Pre-operative exercises |
If you have an upcoming hip or knee surgery, begin these exercises today. Complete them three times a day until your surgery. 1. Knee bend in supine using a towel or sheet

If this seems easy, try the same exercise with one leg held straight and lifted off the bed/floor. Repeat this exercise ten times, three times a day. 3. Knee straightening over roll

Respite care options
If you will need respite care after your hip or knee replacement, listed below are options you may consider for a short stay. Other options may also be available, so you may wish to conduct your own research.
Please contact the facility of your choice as soon as your surgical date is confirmed and:
- arrange for your respite admission between the first and second day after your operation
- contact your family doctor to complete the required medical assessment forms
