Addiction can affect anyone. This is true regardless of age, gender, education, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religion, spiritual beliefs, mental health, physical ability or lifestyle.
Our caring and qualified staff treat people with alcohol, drug and/or gambling problems. We:
- provide counselling to help people make positive lifestyle changes and achieve their goals
- support family and friends who are impacted by a loved one's substance abuse and/or problem gambling
- provide all services in a confidential, non-judgemental and understanding manner
- work closely with mental health services to serve people with both a mental health and addiction concern
- collaborate with our community partners to offer an effective treatment system
Signs of addiction
Signs of addiction include:
- continuing to drink alcohol, use drugs or gamble despite negative consequences
- losing control over substance use, including the amount or frequency of use
- thinking a lot about, planning to get or craving drugs, alcohol or gambling
- experiencing physical and/or psychological symptoms when not drinking, using drugs or gambling
In addition, addiction can negatively affect your relationships with others.

Do I have to pay for services? |
No. All our programs are available to you free of charge. They are funded by the Ministry of Health. |
Do I have to stop using all substances to access these services? |
No. We support both abstinence and harm reduction approaches. However, please note:

Who are addiction counselling services staff? |
Our addiction counselling services staff are skilled professionals with both educational qualifications and clinical experience. All are in good standing with their provincial regulatory bodies, such as the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and/or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. |
What if I want to stop counselling? |
You have the right to stop counselling anytime. Your decision will not affect any programs or services you may receive in the future. |
I was told I need an assessment. What does this mean? |
Your counsellor will begin an initial assessment during your first session. This includes the development of a treatment plan. If you are interested in residential treatment, you will usually require a more in-depth assessment. This can be discussed in more detail with your counsellor. |
