Osler's DEC offers counselling and support for people with:
- type 1 diabetes
- type 2 diabetes (on insulin or insulin pump)
- gestational diabetes
We can help you and your family understand diabetes and learn how to self-manage the disease. At the DEC, you can learn how to:
- test your blood sugar levels
- take insulin
- manage medications
- make healthy food choices
- lead a more active life
DEC services
A diabetes nurse and dietitian will assess your health and provide education tailored to your needs. Other services include:
- appointments conducted in-person, virtually or by telephone
- insulin pump training
- insulin adjustment classes
- gestational diabetes classes
- paediatric diabetes program
- transitional program for young adults moving from a paediatric program
- referral to a social worker
- in-services provided to schools and daycares (in-person or virtually)
- in-services provided to health care providers (hospital or community)

- You will need a doctor's referral for DEC services
- DEC services are available by appointment only
- Interpretation services are available
