Our Critical Care Units serve patients facing immediate life-threatening health conditions. We work to improve their condition so their injuries or illnesses can be treated.
Our expert team includes:
- critical care physicians (intensivists);
- clinical services managers;
- clinical nurse educators;
- resource nurses;
- nurses;
- respiratory therapists;
- pharmacists;
- social workers;
- physiotherapists/physiotherapist assistants;
- dietitians;
- clerical staff;
- health care aides;
- antimicrobial stewardship team members; and others.
Together they provide high-quality and safe critical care services around the clock, including ventilation support, dialysis and cardiac care.
Our team also works with critical care units across Ontario to ensure patients receive specialty services, when required. In addition, we partner with Headwaters Health Care Centre so that everyone across the Central West region has access to critical care.

Critical care at Etobicoke General Hospital |

As the closest hospital to Pearson International Airport, Etobicoke General also receives patients brought from the airport by ambulance. Critical stroke care |
We are a member of the Greater Toronto Area Stroke Network, working in partnership with Trillium Health Partners. If you suffer a stroke, we want to ensure you receive specialized stroke care. Depending on your needs, you may be cared for at an Osler hospital or sent to Trillium Health Partners for a specific treatment. If you are sent to Trillium, you will be transferred back to us when you are stable to continue your recovery. |
