Shurabi Anphalagan |
Shurabi have been an active volunteer with Osler since 2019 and grew up in Brampton. With experience in health care, research, marketing and an academic background in science, she has developed a passion for community service, knowledge mobilization and health advocacy. Shurabi joined Osler’s PFAC to continue advocating for health care improvements while learning about the intricacies of the health system from a community perspective. She believes that listening to community voices is essential for meaningful change. Through her work on the PFAC, she hopes to improve the patient experience by ensuring every individual feels heard and respected, while also expanding her understanding of health systems at Osler. |
Swathi Anphalagan |
Swathi has been an active volunteer with Osler since 2019 and have worked in various roles in health research and marketing. She also started her own organization as a children’s book author to advocate for healthy living and inclusivity in her community. Swathi was inspired to become a Patient and Family Partner and join Osler’s PFAC to expand advocacy efforts by engaging with diverse perspectives and lived experiences within my community, while gaining insight into our health system. She is passionate about enhancing the patient experience to ensure all individuals feel welcome and supported. She hopes to learn from the experiences of diverse community members, understand different cultures and share insights to improve patient care at Osler. |
Susan Azzopardi |
Susan is a retired professional whose career experience has been in the medical and electrical fields. She was inspired and motivated to become a Patient and Family Partner and join Osler’s PFAC to advocate for the community we live in. She wants to create a positive image and make a difference for everyone. She would like to educate individuals and enhance their knowledge and understanding of our hospitals as well as the many programs available at Osler to benefit our community. |

Sangita Birla |
Sangita is an English instructor with a deep commitment to fostering inclusive environments and improving communication. Her motivation to become a Patient Family Advisor with Osler stems from her personal experience during her late father’s extended stay at Etobicoke General Hospital. His multiple admissions, including the last four months of his life, gave firsthand insight into both the exceptional care provided and areas that could be improved. Sangita hopes to use her observations to offer constructive feedback and help create a more supportive and effective health care experience for patients and their families. |

Sandra Crowe |
Sandra has spent a lot of time in hospitals with family, friends and as a nurse from 1986-2017. After retirement she wanted to continue to be a voice and advocate for people with disabilities. Sandra's desire to stay connected to the hospitals in her community by sharing her experiences from a patient, family member and/or staff's point of view. Joining PFAC in 2017 opened her eyes to all the incredible work behind the scenes with so much more to come. She is proud to be part of a team of people who truly care. As a Patient Family Partner, Sandra has contributed to many improvements at Osler hospitals, helping to make patient life better and safer and she is proud to be a part of that. She's honoured to be able to meet and work with progressive individuals who care and want to work on having an outstanding health care system. |

Moira Drybrough |
Moira is a retired stockbroker with Dominion Securities. She has been involved with health care since 1970 when Chinguacousy Council asked her and Jim Yarrow (a former councillor) to set up The Chinguacousy Health Services Board. Later, she served on the Peel Memorial Board of Governors and chaired the Patient Care Evaluation Committee at the hospital's request. Moira is most concerned with the hospital's interaction with the patient and care givers and the Medical Review Committee. |

Sandra Gilmer |
Sandra has been a Brampton resident for over 50 years. She is a mother and grandmother and traded in business life for retirement as well as taken up the challenging art of quilting as an artistic expression of her creativity. She has recently been on a patient journey as a breast cancer patient and now survivor after receiving excellent treatment, close to home, primarily in the Oncology Department at Brampton Civic Hospital. Inspired by the need to bring the voice of patients to caregivers at Osler, she is passionate about supporting her local, close to home hospital in this volunteer position on PFAC. Through her work and partnership, she hopes to help others navigate the health care needs that they may face, today and into the future. |

Navneet is a registered Canadian immigration consultant. Her inspiration is collaborating with health care professionals to advocate for patients and their families by working on improving communication, enhancing care experiences and/or providing emotional support. Kim McNamara |
Kim has been a part of the Osler PFAC for many years. She is able to bring the experiences with her mother, father and aunt as they journeyed through the health and long-term care systems. She endeavors to advise the council on compassionate, empathetic and respectful ideas, strategies and solutions that will enhance the patient experience at Osler. Kim is also a member of the Central West Ontario Health Team. Kim is dedicated to helping patients and visitors as she volunteers in the Emergency Department of Brampton Civic Hospital. |
Gordon Newman |
Gordon has been a PFAC member since 2010. He joined Osler’s PFAC after two years on the Community Advisory Council because he is interested in supporting action to improve the patient and family experience at Osler. He has participated in working groups for accreditation, strategic planning and recruitment. He is the PFAC representative on the clinical senior leadership team. Gordon was actively involved in the development of the Central West Ontario Health Team (CW OHT) application. He now serves on the CW OHT Collaboration Committee and PFAC. Gordon brings to the table experience as a patient, care giver, corporate employee and entrepreneur. |
Isoken Osunde |
Isoken Osunde is a resident of Caledon. She is a lawyer by training and works for the Government of Canada. Isoken has benefited from Osler health care in several ways including giving birth to her last daughter at Brampton Civic Hospital. This, along with many other interactions with Brampton Civic Hospital stimulated the desire in her to contribute to health care in her community. The COVID-19 pandemic presented her with the opportunity and inspired her to take steps towards achieving that desire by becoming a Patient Family Advisor. She joined PFAC in January 2022. She considers it a privilege and hopes to be a bridge between health care providers and her community through this opportunity. |
Hema Ramlochan |
Hema is a highly dedicated human resources executive with over 22 years of experience in the private and public sectors. She joined PFAC because she's personally and professionally connected to the health care system and wants to help make a real impact. Since joining PFAC, she's hosted town halls, participated in patient memorial services, been a Board Committee Patient Representative and played a key role in emceeing strategic plan launch events for internal and external stakeholders. For her, advocating for those who can't is a responsibility we all share. |

As the primary caregiver for both of his parents, Sushil gained insight into the challenges faced by patients and their families. His firsthand experience navigating the health care system inspired him to give back. In 2023, he joined PFAC to advocate for improved patient care. |

Arun Sharma |
Arun has been a PFAC member since 2013. During this time, he has become aware of the wide range of health care and medical services delivered by Osler and has seen these services be delivered with compassion by hospital staff and physicians alike. He regularly shares these experiences with his Etobicoke-based community, where a large number of senior citizens reside. In turn, he brings back the evolving needs, challenges and feedback of these communities for consideration and improvement of Osler's services. Saba is an international physician and cofounder of ConsidraCare. Saba had been an advocate of health throughout her life, however health issues with neighbours and dealing with seniors at work really inspired her to have a deeper insight into the health care system, to learn and to share ideas and Osler PFAC team aligned with her goals. Saba is passionate about the health of seniors, underprivileged and marginalized population in the community. She would like to improve and learn more about health policy and quality improvement for better access and quality care for all. |

Marjorie has been a Patient Family Partner since 2017 and Brampton resident since 1981. She is a long-standing community volunteer, leader and advocate who worked in the health care system for over 20 years.
