Every day that Dr. Tajinder Kaura steps foot in Peel Memorial’s Urgent Care Centre (UCC) is a day he looks forward to. As a dedicated emergency physician, Dr. Kaura loves his job, values the team he works alongside and cherishes the community he’s proudly called home for the past ten years.
“I love the energy of the team, the fast pace and the privilege of taking care of people when they need us most,” said the UCC Site Chief and father of two small children. “Just being able to give back to the community by being here every day to help people when they’re at their most vulnerable, means so much.”
Born and raised in Quebec, Dr. Kaura is particularly touched when he sees children accompanying their grandparents to the UCC to translate for them. “This touches my heart because that’s exactly what I did for my grandparents growing up in Montreal. Seeing that similar close connection and support among families in Brampton is also one of the many reasons I fell in love with this community when my wife and I moved here.”
During any shift, Dr. Kaura cares for patients of all ages who are experiencing illnesses or injuries that require timely attention and are cared for by his highly skilled team in the UCC. He believes that kindness is an important first step in building trust and connection with the patients he’s treating.
“As an emergency physician, I see many sick patients and I give each patient my full attention when I am with them. Each patient is important to me.”
Dr. Kaura is proud to lead the exceptional health care team at Peel Memorial’s UCC, noting that they are truly committed to making a difference in the lives of every person who comes through their doors: “Our team at the UCC knows that when the patients come in, we’re committed to caring with compassion and giving them the very best of who we are.”
He is also one among the generations of dedicated physicians who have served at Peel Memorial and provided care to residents over the past century. “It is truly an honour to follow in the footsteps of the many health care professionals before me who have lived and worked in this vibrant community.”
