William Osler Health System (Osler) is pleased to announce that its Urgent Care Centre at Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness (Peel Memorial) has transitioned to 24 hours a day, seven days a week operations. This transition will provide much-needed increased access to quality, urgent health care for the community.
“The Urgent Care Centre at Peel Memorial is one of the many important health care services that our community relies on,” said Dr. Frank Martino, President and CEO, Osler. “The expanded hours increases timely access to urgent health care at a time when the volume of patients seeking care is high. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our provincial and local governments, community and health care partners, community members, donors, staff, physicians and volunteers for their ongoing support as we work to transform health care in our region.”
The Urgent Care Centre’s emergency-trained staff and physicians are available for patients in need of immediate but non-life threatening care, including laboratory services, and diagnostic services such as x-rays and CT scans. Before visiting, patients should visit our Emergency and Urgent Care webpage to determine if the Urgent Care Centre is the best health care option for them based on their condition.
Patients with serious and/or life-threatening injuries, illnesses or conditions should always go to the nearest Emergency Department or call 911 immediately. Patients arriving at the Urgent Care Centre with serious and/or life-threatening injuries, illnesses or conditions will be stabilized and transferred to the Emergency Department or to an inpatient unit at Brampton Civic Hospital or Etobicoke General Hospital, as appropriate.
As is the case with other non-emergency health care services during the holidays, some reduced holiday hours for the Urgent Care Centre will apply. Residents are asked to check our Emergency and Urgent Care webpage for hours, online wait clocks for the Urgent Care Centre and Emergency Departments, as well as its Virtual Urgent Care service. Osler historically sees more patients coming for emergency and urgent care during the fall and winter and it is important that the community understands where they should seek care based on their conditions. Other care options in the community include family doctors and the Central West Ontario Health Team’s community-based COVID-19, cold and flu clinics. Learn more about where to go for care.
