Osler moving forward with release of Request for Qualifications for new hospital
The Ontario government and William Osler Health System (Osler) have taken an important step towards breaking ground on the new Peel Memorial Hospital with the release of the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the project.
The RFQ is the first step in the process to select a qualified team to deliver the project, which includes a multi-storey patient tower that will house new inpatient beds, expanded clinics, and Brampton’s second Emergency Department. Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Osler will evaluate the RFQ submissions, to prequalify teams with the required design and construction experience to deliver a project of this size and complexity. Shortlisted teams will be invited to respond to a Request for Proposals (RFP), expected to be released in Fall 2024.
“With this milestone, we are another step closer to transforming Peel Memorial into Brampton’s new hospital and bringing greater access to the health care services this community needs most,” said Linda Franklin, Board Chair, William Osler Health System. “Together with our partners – the Ontario Government, Infrastructure Ontario, City of Brampton and the Osler Foundation, and with the significant support of the community – we are building a robust local health system and transforming health care in this area for generations to come.”
Pre-construction preparations continue while Osler continues to proceed through the required stages of government approvals. The final design and construction schedule will be determined in partnership with the successful proponent. As with all construction projects, dates are subject to change and further government approvals.
“Moving into the procurement stage brings us closer to a strong, accessible health system for our community’s future,” said Dr. Frank Martino, President and CEO, William Osler Health System. “The transformation of Peel Memorial into Brampton’s new hospital will bring specialized and expanded services that are vital for patients and their families. We look forward to working with our partners in the time ahead to help increase hospital and health care capacity to serve our growing community.”
