Osler named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers 8th year in a row

Osler one of only five health care organizations across Canada to receive this honour

William Osler Health System (Osler) has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2020, making it the eighth year in a row the organization has received this national award.

The award recognizes organizations that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace – specifically acknowledging and honouring programs that focus on women, visible minority populations, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender/transsexual communities.

“Receiving this award for the eighth year in a row is a true testament of the tremendous work taking place across this organization to ensure we are building and maintaining an inclusive, respectful, welcoming and accessible environment for our staff, physicians, volunteers, patients and their families,” said Dr. Naveed Mohammad, Executive Vice President, Quality Medical and Academic Affairs. “We’re committed to enhancing our diversity, equity and inclusion programs so we can continue to create an organizational culture that is inspiring to all who come through our doors.”

Osler has developed many partnerships beyond the walls of the hospital to support patient populations that are vulnerable, including those who are homeless, isolated, newcomers to Canada, and those with low English proficiency. Through the Sun Life Osler Global Health Program, Osler collaborates with partner hospitals in India and Pakistan to create leadership opportunities and improve patient outcomes in those countries, as well as the communities Osler serves.
