Donation from FDC Foundation jumpstarts campaign in support of hospitals’ pandemic recovery
Today, William Osler Health System Foundation (Osler Foundation) is launching the Build Back, Together campaign, with a goal of raising $10 million for William Osler Health System (Osler), to support COVID-19 pandemic recovery. The campaign will help Osler hospitals, and the entire community, build back from the pandemic—better, stronger, and together.
Although urgent and emergent surgeries continued to be performed throughout the pandemic, many nonurgent programs, services and clinics, including elective surgeries, were put on hold. As Osler works to gradually and safely resume normal operations, donor support is needed to fund essential surgical equipment to help reduce the backlog and replace aging equipment. All equipment in a hospital must be funded by the community and funds raised through the Build Back, Together campaign will purchase items such as surgical tables, anesthesia gas machines, laparoscopes and camera heads, and AV surgical integration systems.
To jump start the campaign and encourage the community to get involved, FDC Foundation is proud to make a gift of $3.3 million to help kick off the campaign.
“At this crucial time, $10 million will go a long way to helping Osler hospitals meet the increased demand for quality health care caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Ken Mayhew, President and CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “Continuing to keep our community safe is our number one priority, and with the generosity of FDC Foundation and other donors and supporters, I am confident we will be able to build back, together.”
