As the number of COVID-19 patients in need of hospitalization remains high, William Osler Health System (Osler) is introducing new hours for its COVID-19, Cold and Flu Clinic and Brampton COVID-19 Testing Centre – both located at Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness – in order to ensure continued capacity for safe, quality care delivery at its hospital sites.
Effective February 1, Osler’s COVID-19, Cold and Flu Clinic will open from 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily, to serve those who are eligible for COVID-19 testing and need to see a doctor without an appointment. The same day, Osler’s Brampton COVID-19 Testing Centre will begin operating from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily for testing only by appointment.
The new hours allow Osler to redeploy highly skilled staff to areas of greatest need, while aligning the hospital’s COVID-19 assessment and testing capacity to its peak hours of demand.
“As we continue to provide care to a high number of COVID-19 patients, it is important for us to optimally utilize our staffing and adapt our health care services to ensure we can serve the hospitals needs,” said Kiki Ferrari, Chief Operating Officer, William Osler Health System. “The new hours is one of many strategies we are employing to ensure we have the capacity to provide safe, quality care to even more patients – if needed – in the time ahead.”
COVID-19 testing continues to be an essential tool to reduce the spread of the virus, and Osler works closely with Ontario Health, Public Health and Brampton Etobicoke Ontario Health Team partners to ensure sufficient COVID-19 testing is available in the community. With a number of COVID-19 Testing Centres now open in Brampton, testing is more convenient and accessible across the community.
