There was fresh, powdered snow for skiers and snowboarders who enjoyed a day on the slopes at Caledon Ski Club in support of William Osler Health System Foundation’s (Osler Foundation) 12th annual Ski Day, presented by DG Group. The annual event attracted over 180 winter sports enthusiasts who together raised $83,000 to help purchase equipment and fund redevelopment projects at William Osler Health System’s (Osler) Brampton Civic Hospital and Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
“The incredible support of our Ski Day participants, sponsors and volunteers brings true warmth during our cold winter,” said Ken Mayhew, President and CEO, Osler Foundation. “We look forward to this event every year and we’re extremely grateful for those who came out to enjoy the day with us and made it such a great success.”
The day was full of food and fun, beginning with a delicious breakfast, followed by lunch, ski and snowboard lessons, snowshoeing and an après-ski reception sponsored by Druxy’s and J Red Co.
The year’s top pledge earner, Reg Ewles, from Penhall Company was awarded the Jim Kennedy Top Fundraiser award commemorating the late Jim Kennedy, an avid skier, fundraiser for Osler, dedicated volunteer and co-chair of Ski Day for more than seven years.
“We’re proud to support exceptional health care in our community, and a fun day on the slopes is an especially great way to make a real difference,” said Darren Steedman, Vice President of title sponsor, DG Group.
