The Department of Medicine’s Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking part-time nocturnist locums.
The nocturnist locum would provide evening and overnight coverage on weekends for the inpatient medicine units at Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing unplanned medical care for admitted medicine patients. The role is supported by an in-house internist providing Emergency Department consultative services and an intensivist-led critical care response team. The nocturnist locum will be required to commit to at least one to two shifts per month.
The expectations of the physician on this shift include coverage of inpatient ward calls (including admitted patients boarding in the Emergency Department) and code blue attendance together with the Emergency Department internist. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees including a competitive stipend.
Qualifications
The candidates must have a Certificate of Registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have certification in Internal Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada or hold Fellowship in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population.
About the program
The program supports the admitted ward patients overnight for the hospital medicine program from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
