The Division of Oncology in the Department of Medicine is seeking full-time hospitalists, internists or general practitioners in oncology for an opportunity to join the division supporting inpatient oncology care. Our Oncology Unit is located at Brampton Civic Hospital and has 23 dedicated beds. In addition to inpatient management of complications of malignancy or treatment, we provide inpatient chemotherapy and manage patients post autologous stem cell transplantation in which standardized protocols have been created. Our Oncology Unit is supported by a full-time nurse practitioner that has expertise in managing complex patients with solid tumours and hematologic malignancies. Additional supports include palliative care, allied health and access to radiation oncology. Back up subspecialist support from medical oncology will be available when needed. Remuneration is supported a stipend, in addition to fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees.
Qualifications
The candidates must have a certificate of registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and hold either a Fellowship in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or College of Family Physicians. Additional oncology exposure will be an asset but is not a requirement. The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population.
About the program
The Oncology Program sees over 2,500 new oncology consults annually and provides care for patients at Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital, with a satellite clinic at Headwaters Health Care Centre. The program sees a wide variety of solid tumours and hematologic malignancies supported by 16 hematologists/oncologists.
