The Department of Family and Community Medicine is looking a part-time associate interested in providing part-time hospital-based medical care of mental health inpatients. Over the past 16 years, physicians have been working in conjunction with our psychiatrists to meet the medical needs of patients admitted to our inpatient mental health units. You will be working collaboratively with the psychiatrists, nurses and other allied health care providers. On-call availability from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. for Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital including rounds and managing medical issues of inpatients on your scheduled shifts. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees.
Qualifications
The candidates must have a Certificate of Registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have certification in Family Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada or hold Fellowship in Family Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Previous hospital based in patient, emergency medicine and comprehensive care experience is considered an asset. The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population.
About the program
The Med-Psych team is currently made up of seven physicians. You will be supporting the non-psychiatric health care needs of up 90 mental health patients in collaboration with our psychiatrist colleagues.
