The Division of Cardiology continues to expand services and in addition to general cardiology training, ideal candidates should be able to provide subspecialty expertise. Fellowship training in critical care, heart failure and cardio-oncology would be considered an asset. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees.
Qualifications
The candidate must have a certificate of registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have fellowship in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population.
About the program
It is a very exciting time for Osler’s cardiovascular program which has seen rapid expansion over the last several years, now with over 30 cardiologists providing hospital on-call service. Osler serves one of Canada’s largest catchment areas with one of the highest burden of cardiovascular disease. Osler’s cardiovascular program is currently a Level 4 Regional Cardiac Centre with one of the busiest cath labs in the province. Osler has a growing arrhythmia program including ICD and pacemaker implantation as well as rapidly developing structural heart disease, cardio-oncology, heart failure and cardiac research programs. The future vision of the cardiovascular program is to become a Level 7 Full Service Regional Cardiac Centre with on-site mechanical circulatory support, interventional EP, cardiac surgery and structural heart disease services as Osler transitions to an academic health centre.
