The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine is seeking two part-time infection control officers with one at Brampton Civic Hospital and one at Etobicoke General Hospital. Expected hours of work is 18.75 per week.
Working with a multidisciplinary team of corporate clinical chiefs, directors, Pharmacy and Occupational Health and Safety, the Infection Control Officer will utilize indicator monitoring to assess and make recommendations regarding the appropriateness of care, improve patient outcomes and to assess the timely provision of the right level of care in a location that best meets the needs of the patient and family. Administrative services as the Infection Control Officer will receive a monthly stipend.
Qualifications
The successful applicant must have a certificate of registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with an FRCP(C) Certificate of Competency in Infectious Disease or Medical Microbiology. The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population.
About the program
The Division of Infectious Diseases at Osler consists of six infectious diseases physicians and two medical microbiologists across three sites (Brampton Civic, Etobicoke General Hospital and Peel Memorial). The program is supported by the Microbiology Laboratory, Infection Prevention and Control, a clinical epidemiologist and an Antimicrobial Stewardship team. The Division anticipates continued expansion with the Peel Memorial site.
