Visiting hours and important information about the hospital

We warmly encourage family and friends to visit patients but ask that you respect the following guidelines for everyone’s health and safety.

General visitor guidelines

  • Visiting hours: 11:00am to 9:00pm. daily.
  • No more than two visitors are recommended at a time.
  • Children are welcome to visit when accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  • Special visitation needs of each family will be assessed and accommodated as required.

Visitor guidelines for children

  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to visit frequently and stay as long as they desire. Parents will be given a blue bracelet to wear during their child's admission to identify them as parents.   Parents are asked to ensure their child has no more than three visitors at a time.
  • Siblings may visit between 2:00 p.m. – 8:00pm daily, but must be accompanied by a parent. Parents who choose to have siblings visit must complete the Health Checklist for Siblings with the unit clerk on duty, or the child's nurse.
  • To protect your child from further infection and complications, any visitor who has had recent signs and symptoms of fever, respiratory infection or vomiting/diarrhea, or has been exposed to a contagious illness (e.g. chicken pox) should not visit.
  • Osler is a smoke free facility.  If you are leaving the building to smoke, please let your nurse know you are leaving and when you return.
  • We ask that all visitors not use cellular phones in the hospital as transmissions can interfere with medical equipment.
Things to remember

Regular hand washing helps avoid the spread of infection to patients, you, your family and others. Wash your hands before and after every patient contact, before and after eating, and after using the washroom.

The hospital’s main entrances are locked between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. During these hours, patients and visitors must use the Emergency Department entrance.
