Dr. Sergio Borgia, M.Sc., M.D., FRCP(C) is the Medical Director and corporate division head of the Infectious Disease Program at William Osler Health System in Brampton and Toronto, Canada where he is an Infectious Diseases consultant. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Toronto where he also completed his graduate work in Medical Genetics & Microbiology at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Borgia obtained his medical degree from Queen’s University and completed his specialty training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at McMaster University. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine and Division of Infectious Diseases at McMaster University.
Since joining Osler, Dr. Borgia has served as a consultant for the Infection Prevention & Control Department as well as the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. He presently holds the co-chair of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee. His clinical and research interests are in viral Hepatitis and Tuberculosis where the Osler Hepatitis Centre’s Integrated Hepatitis Clinic is involved in clinical trials. Dr. Borgia sits on the steering committee of the CanHepC Canadian Network Undertaking Against Hepatitis C (CANUHC). At Osler he is the medical director of the Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis clinics and serves as a consultant to Peel Public Health. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has served as a reviewer for JAMA, CMAJ, and CJG&H.
Dr. Borgia believes in strong patient advocacy for Peel Region’s residents and seeks to increase access to health care resources, innovative treatments, and cross-disciplinary models of care.
